Local MP Invites schools in Southport to visit Parliament
Southport MP, Damien Moore, has appealed to all schools in the town to assist pupils to develop their political understanding by inviting them to visit Parliament.
This week, the government announced a further £40 million to support communities along Britain’s coastline, in addition to the £2million Southport has already received for improvements to the grade two listed pier on the seafront.
Youth organisations will receive £40 million to boost the skills and life chances of young people living in disadvantaged areas. This investment will have a transformational effect on the lives of some of our most disadvantaged young people.
Yesterday the newly elected Conservative MP for Southport Damien Moore gave his maiden speech to parliament, paying tribute to my predecessors, Dr John Pugh and Sir Ian Percival QC, and highlighting some of Southport’s many local issues.
In four weeks’ time, people across the country will be going to the polls. On Thursday 4th May, the UK will vote in elections which will have a big impact, both on local areas, and on our country as a whole.
