Councillor Tony Brough the Leader of the Sefton Conservative Group and a Councillor for Ainsdale has expressed his great concern over the decision made by the Liberal Democrat Group to resign their seat on the Planning Committee to which they are entitled under the Council’s Constitution.
Dukes Ward Councillor, Mike Prendergast, has hit out at ‘Liveable Neighbourhood’ proposals by Sefton Council. The proposals affects parts of Dukes Ward and Kew Ward and involve limiting access to at least 13 roads.
Plans to extend cycle lanes across Southport, including into Birkdale, have come in for heavy criticism from Conservative Council candidates, Mike Prendergast and Lee Durkin, standing in Dukes Ward and Birkdale Ward respectively.
Local Campaigners have been ‘disappointed but unsurprised’ by the announcement this week that
the cycle lane project introduced down Hoghton Street and Queens Road last summer will now be
expanded to include areas of Churchtown, Crossens and Birkdale Village.
