Cllr Thomas de Freitas serves as Chairman of Southport Conservative Association.

Before being elected Chairman, he was the Association's Deputy Chairman (Political) for two years.

Thomas was elected as a Borough Councillor for North Meols & Hesketh Bank ward on West Lancashire Borough Council (WLBC) in May 2023, and as a Parish Councillor on North Meols Parish Council. You can join his ward Facebook group here.

In May 2024, Thomas was appointed as WLBC's Lead Member for Rural Affairs. He also serves as the Lancashire Chairman of the Conservative Rural Forum. 

In May 2025 he was elected as the County Councillor for West Lancashire North (covering Banks, Hesketh Bank, Tarleton & Mere Brow) on Lancashire County Council.
