Labour's Tax Tsunami is About to Batter Britain!

How much of Labour's Taxes can Southport take?

Southport Conservative Spokesperson, Mike Prendergast, says “Labour’s Tax Tsunami is About to Batter Britain!”

In a little over a month, Britain is about to be battered by a tsunami of tax rises from the Labour Government. The first week of April will see enormous tax rises for millions of people, tens of thousands of them in Southport and the Northern Parishes.

Southport Conservative Spokesperson, Mike Prendergast, is warning about the damaging impact this will have on residents and businesses in Southport and the Northern Parishes.

Mike said, “After over 6 months of Labour undermining business and consumer confidence, people across Southport and the Norrhern Parishes are now bracing themselves for huge tax rises.”

“The biggest and most damaging tax rise, will be the increase to National Insurance. The rate goes up to 15% and the threshold is cut to £5k. The prospect of this tax rise has already caused massive damage and the implementation will be worse.”

“Make no mistake, this is a tax on jobs and wealth creation, it is going to lead to higher unemployment, lower wages and higher prices. It’s a policy thought up by people who have never ran a business and have no idea how to create wealth.”

“It will be particularly punishing for Southport, with the hospitality and leisure industries having to also absorb increases in the minimum wage during a difficult time, with increasing inflation and energy prices as well.”

“On top of this, local pubs with a rateable value of £100k or more will see their business rates go up by around £19k a year and hospitality and leisure firms will see their rates go from an average of £3,751 per year to over £9,000. It’s a perfect storm of taxes that will batter Southport and the Northern Parishes.”

“Despite ruling it out previously, Council Tax will also be rising under the Labour government, by almost 5%, with both Labour controlled authorities in the Southport parliamentary constituency set to increase this tax.”

“Changes to Vehicle Excise Duty will also make new cars more expensive, some models will cost over £5,000 more and even low emission popular models, like a VW Polo, will cost £220 more.”

“It is wave after wave of tax rises that will hammer businesses and households this April.”

“Our rural communities in the Northern Parishes will also be worried about the damaging Family Farm Tax due to come in next April as well.”

“You cannot tax your way to growth, it simply does not work. Yet, Rachel Reeves and Labour have the nerve to say they are putting money back into people’s pockets, it’s the exact opposite. It’s taking money out of your pocket and the problem with this type of hard left socialist ideology is that eventually, you run out of other people’s money to spend.”

“Southport cannot afford this damaging Labour government. It’s Conservatives in Southport who are pushing back on this and at both Local Elections and the next General Election, it’s only the Conservatives who can beat Labour in Southport and the Northern Parishes.”
